Thailand is home to the majestic Indian Elephant species. With dwindling populations, there has been a growth in conservation initiatives and sanctuaries to care for these beautiful gentle giants. Throughout Thailand, you’ll see various companies offering opportunities to experience and interact with elephants in an ethical and responsible way. Some sanctuaries will allow you to bathe and feed the elephants, while others allow you not to interact with them physically, instead to get your hands dirty and really aid in the conservation projects. Visitors can learn about the elephants’ stories, preparing food for them and taking them for walks through the sanctuary’s lush grounds. The goal is to support the elephants’ rehabilitation while promoting sustainable, ethical tourism to help protect these incredible animals.
